Have to admit it, the song is kinda contagious..

Living Abroad

Two days back, I bumped into a friend and we were talking about life in Malaysia. Our conversation then ended around the fact that she wished to migrate and start a new life in a better place. It is really quite sad that alot of us want to forget the place we come from.

Living abroad for two years in Hawaii made me understand why alot of us tends to feel that there is someplace else we would rather be. But Malaysia is our country and that will and always will be your home at heart. Whatever that I've experience elsewhere, I just hope I can bring it along with me in my memory. And Hawaii is one great example of a place that is special to me.

With what that began with some Universtiy application 4 years ago, I didn't realize that a new life experience is unfolding.



Then, Hawaii is just an island that appeared only fictional, a place they called paradise or so they say in the tv.



But the things I remember about Hawaii is not only about its beauty. It is the people I met there, the vibe and the experience of living far away from home. Before that, I've never get to meet so many people from all around the world. And Hawaii Pacific University is one great place to do just that cos they have such diverse nationalities studying there.



This is the place where I get to witness how different everyone really are despite only our personalities but the place that we are from... and how we carry that in us so obviously. From the way we talk, the things we wear, the things we eat and the way we want to share apart of our country with the rest.


Jiin is my Korean sexy friend that I got to know in Hawaii


I still remember how we use to gather outside Bishop street (where the University is) after classes just to chill and talk about the day. The air is always light and breezy over there. Can't really do that in Malaysia... unless you wanna get barbequed alive.



And everyday we took the bus to get around. It is here where I get to see the real everyday livelihood of Honolulu, from the working class, the tourist, the students, the handicapped and also the homeless. Most of the time you get friendly people in the public bus, but there are times that you get to meet some idiots who doesn't understand common courtesy. I've seen a couple of dramas in the bus itself but most of the time I get to meet new friends.... and get to hear their stories about home and life in Hawaii.



There is one conversation that I didn't forget til now, and it was when I was talking to my kwai lou friend. He always share brag about his weekend flings with me.

Him: Hey vic, last weekend was amazing man. *dreamy face*
Me: What? Another Japanese girl? I heard that before. What so special this time?
Him: This time was different man. You know what happened after we had sex? We were naked right? ... and suddenly she just bow down on the bed kneeling and said 'Arigato gozaimazu' to me!
Me: OMG! Okei~~ that is amazing! *LOL*

Like I said, I get to witness different cultures blending. Or should I say coming together?

It is also in Hawaii that I get to see how an 'open' culture is. We were allowed to speak up, allowed the freedom for free expression... something that I still feel that Malaysia is lacking of. Over here, alot of things we tend to hold back or whisper to only friendly ears.



In Hawaii, nobody give a flying 'fk' whether you're rich, poor, man or monkey. LOL.



But one of the best thing about living abroad is your own personal freedom. I really really do miss the house parties we use to have at our apartments.





I still remember this one time my Taiwanese friend puked so bad out of the balcony that it dirtied someone's car. Me and some of my other friends went for rescue and rushed down with a big pail of water to clean the car up. But I slipped from the stairs, broke the pail in two and ended up bathing myself... -__-"



And of course, I did share a lot of my culture with my friends by showing them how to get drunk Malaysian style.



I don't really celebrate Christmas but for the first time I felt the spirit of Christmas there. All these while, I thought Christmas was a time to party and time for terbabas-ness.

I miss cooking and buying groceries can you believe it? Yes.... I don't only know how to drink. I've alot of hidden talents. =P



And last but not least, Hawaii is indeed a paradise. I've never felt our Earth more alive than there. The wind is strong, the sky is blue, the trees are green, and the girls humans there are beautiful.



Hawaii will be one place that I don't think I'll forget for the rest of my life. And I'm glad I took that part of me back to where I come from =)



And so should everyone of you out there.

FHA 2008

I know everyone is bored reading my F&B outing lately, coz why... no chicks isit?

But too bad lah huh... coz here is the second part. Chicks will have to wait la peepol. Now make money time wei~ No money, no whisky. *lol*

While I was in Singapore, coincidentally the Food & Hotel Asia (FHA 2008) Event is also being held at the Exhibition Centre, SG.



This event is only held once every 2 years and F&B related brands from around the globe gather at this event to showcase their brands.



My partner thought it would be a good idea for me to go look see look see; and learn more about the industry that I'm about to go in.

But little did I know, the look see look see required me to taste more food, and walk for 5 hours visiting over 1000 booths? Seems like 10,000 to me *superkeduper tiring*

This is the size of section 6 of the Singapore Exhibition centre. There is 10 sections. The walking experience reminds me of the time I was in Hong Kong with my girlfriend ex girlfriend. Leg can patah.




Those exhibitors are either showcasing recipes, raw materials, equipments or furnitures. Apa lanciao Whatever brand oso got.



But I truly did learned alot lah. F&B is not as fun as it is when u're IN it rather than just patronizing them (e.g go bar drink drink, go restaurant date date). Noooo..... it is a super fast paced, competitive industry where if you don't update yourself, find your niche, get the concept and recipes right.... your competitor relli makan you like F&B (food and beverage lah).

I think that is why this company call themselves 'Malan' Noodle. 'Malan' = whatever (in cantonese).



I think they just gave up finding their niche and decided to serve all kinds of noodles. =P

Btw, MOF also sponsored their gelatos for the event. =P~

Today I go shoppin... at this new XXX outlet... omg!! so many many cuuuuuuuuuuute stufff.....and they got my favourite XXX color.... and later ... me and my friends/boyfriend... went to XXX restaurant to eat. Wahhhhhhh seeeeee ----> *picture* SOOOOO YUUMMiliioous!

Delicious Hokkaido

Last Wednesday til Friday, I was in Singapore for some food tasting in MOF (Ministry of Food). I went to their biggest outlet in Bugis Junction and it was all one great and superbly tiring exciting experience.



I've never went for any food tasting session before; but I thought it might be a good idea for me to go with an empty stomach just to be safe. I WAS R.E.A.D.Y for whatever that was comin' and I wasn't even thinkin that I'll actually eat much. Maybe one full meal plus dessert... which is alot already by my standard.

The queue towards MOF is crazy; about 20 person was waiting in line when I reached. Luckily for me; I got VIP treatment =P



So it was interestin'... hardly you see crowds like dat in Malaysia. I just hope I saved enough space for one good meal. But guess what? I ate and ate and ate... to the point that I was begging my stomach to let in more food coz the desserts are so awesome!



The not so awesome part is that I have to unbuckle my pants after that coz my belly is exploding. -_-" Seriously, what they put in their Hokkaido icecream =P~~~ thinkin bout it makes all my saliva drip (even more than seein' sexy hootchimomma)



To think that I'm gonna be involved in MOF in Malaysia in the near future =/ I wonder what will happen.

I'll grow and grow

Three days ago I went to my company's group meeting in Singapore. While we are at Clarke Quay , three of my macho colleagues decided to impress our female colleagues by taking up the challenge and seating the famous 'Reverse Bungee' over there.

From One Chick Year to Another

Everything seems to pass by so quickly this last few weeks since I touched down from China. Took a glimpse and it was Christmas,



took another glimpse and its already 2008. Wow. Could hardly catch my breath and sorry couldn't blog about it as I was waiting for my camera to come back from the hospital =). I'm sure you guys don't want me to draw another girl out with paint *kekekek*

It is very hard to draw something that looks like this ok? Gimme a break =/ (dare anyone to draw a sexy looking chick with paint better than me... i'll post it up if you send it to me)



Anyways, with all the festive season lined up one after another (soon CNY... prepare ang pao pls.. sudah pok kai!), I didn't really plan any party. Supposedly, I was thinking about a party to celebrate my blog's first year but apparently luckily I did not. Else sure instead of only camera go hospital... I would have to also for too much bird watching partying. -_-"



Last few days, I was escorting 3 hootchimommas from the land of the 'Chow Kueh tiao' (Penang) around town. So for the last 3 days...we were club hopping, house partyin',... we they were shopping and trying to turn KL town around.

Apparently, I do think that they think that I'm some kind of tour guide for KL nightlife. Well, who am I to complain =P Nothing beats getting a bunch of fresh out of town girls drunk meeting up with friends out of town and showing them a good time =P



Just few hours ago, I receive a msg that two other girls from Singapore going to come down and may wanna party this Wednesday night *sound the PARTY-KAKIs alarm pls.*

It has been a great year 2007, and to kick start a new year like dat... gosh... what am I suppose to expect this year. 0_0 Soon i'll need a pimped up party cum tour bus.

Kung Pao Chicks, Frozen China

Nightlife in ShenYang is not as bad as I expected. Like it or not, entertainment is a must in the Chinese society, especially true in China when the essence of preserving 'face' is very important in the Chinese business world. Thus, everything is humongous and beautifully decorated. Every nightclub comes with a KTV area, filled up with smooth skinned Chinamuis hostesses.... every Sauna stacked with facilities equivalent of a 5 star hotel.... every big dining restaurant has several floors with private meeting rooms each the size of our local kopitiam.



Talk about eating, before I left... my colleagues threw a farewell dinner for me. Within 10 minutes of the dinner I was already drunk coz 18 of them raised their glasses one by one to drink with me. It is chinese customs to drink one on one each time and not like us who cheers with everybody. I had a holy drunken dinner *burp*



Here are a few places that I went while I was in ShenYang..

Xita Korean Town

Xi Ta Korea Town ( 西塔 xī tǎ )
Address: Shi Fu Road and Taiyuan Street ( 市府大路和太原北街 )

When I first reach Xita, I felt abit entranced.. what I had expected was maybe a street with many small stores and restaurants but instead the whole street lit up as though I just took a cab that teleported me to the nightstreets of Hong Kong.



My eyes were invaded by so many neon lights from KTVs and Korean Restaurants... it is crazy.



I didn't really stayed long in Xi Ta because I was alone. No.. I don't wanna be singing alone -_-" but I did stop by a Korean restaurant for food. Had a few chat with the local Koreans there too who speaked Chinese and a lil English.



I found out that there is a Korean town here because Shen Yang is located very near to Korea (actually right beside) and alot of them migrated here a long long time ago. And also is a popular nightspot among many of Shenyang’s foreign students, as well as the “hip” crowd of young Chinese.

Sunny Night Club



Location: At the corner of Ba Jing Jie (八经街) and Jiu Wei Lu (九纬路), a few blocks north of Ma Lu Wan. All Shenyang taxi drivers know "wǔ yè yáng guāng."

Talk about big and classy clubs, Sunny Nightclub exterior and interior potrayed a very gothic architecture. It seems like I'm going into a place to do some dark ritual.. *thinks to self* mebbe that is what I've been doing after all *kekeke* A ritual that requires me in the centre and alot of girls around =P

Anyways, this club's sound system reminded me of the one I heard in a club in Las Vegas (Pure Nightclub)....simply crisp & clear, unlike those that is trying to make your ears bleed and ur brain explode. *lol*

Nightly, starting around 8:00, there is a Philippino band that plays Chinese and English pop and rock music. After thata it is pure China-techo pop. What you expect... its China wat?

This place is definitely my favourite. Why? Coz it is new and it really has everything a club actually needs.Too bad that I couldn't take much photos here as I was not allowed to.. but steal steal take abit got lah *ekkeke*

I tell you, this place is the IT for me if I ever were to come close to a club that pimped to the max. It is two stories high, with 20 over enclosed VIP sofa areas upstairs and downstairs surrounding the bar and dancefloor,



a humongous stage in front,



a pole dancing area inside the bar area...



and everything to the toilet had neon lights glowing on my thing. I could have swear that at some point when I was drunk and peeing, I felt like Luke Skywalker with a light saber *kekekeke*.

WTF... isit China's electricity free or what??



Half way through, I also noticed 10s of china muis walking to certain patrons in between the crowds. It appears they also have hostesses ready to accompany lonely patrons if they are ready to pay for them. Wah liu.. wished I could take pictures of them tho, but I was afraid some China mafia gonna take a machine gun out.. so better not. I shoot them, they shoot me, but my weapon got no bullet -_-" No good...

Anyways, I met a girl named Xia Ping (snowing Ice) on my first day there and had became friends. (no... it is not what you think) She and her kungpao friends joined us too. I had a kungpao time =P



Really had a great time when I was there =)
